The Progressive Alliance for Ghana (PAG) on Sunday, August 2, 2026, held an inaugural thanksgiving and dedication service in honour of its newly acclaimed 2028 presidential candidate, Dr. John Enyonam Kpikpi, following his unanimous endorsement at the party’s National Delegates Congress.
The thanksgiving service, held at the City of God Church at Ashaley Botwe in Accra, brought together party executives, members, supporters, clergy and invited guests to offer prayers of thanksgiving and seek divine guidance for Dr. Kpikpi and the party’s journey towards the 2028 general elections.
Leading the spiritual ministration was Bishop Patrick Anyormi, who, together with other invited ministers, offered prayers and pronounced blessings over Dr. Kpikpi, committing his leadership, family and political mission into God’s hands.
The service also featured a sermon by Dr. Joshua Oppong-Sarfo, whose message centred on the leadership crisis confronting Ghana and the need for ethical, visionary and accountable leadership. Speakers at the event emphasised that Ghana’s current challenges require a new approach to governance and presented the Progressive Alliance for Ghana as a credible alternative for national transformation.
In his address, Dr. Kpikpi expressed gratitude to God for the successful National Delegates Congress and thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him through his unanimous acclamation as PAG’s presidential candidate.
He also lamented the deteriorating condition of Ghana’s rivers and water bodies as a result of illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, describing the environmental destruction as one of the clearest examples of leadership failure and poor governance. He stressed the need for responsible stewardship of the nation’s natural resources and pledged that a PAG administration would prioritise environmental protection and sustainable development.
A major highlight of the programme was the launch of Dr. Kpikpi’s new book, Politics Belong to God, which he said reflects his convictions about leadership, governance and the role of faith and integrity in public service.
The event concluded with a membership drive and a time of fellowship and refreshments, providing an opportunity for supporters and invited guests to interact with the party’s leadership as PAG continues to build momentum ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The thanksgiving service marked the formal spiritual commissioning of Dr. John Enyonam Kpikpi’s presidential bid and reinforced the Progressive Alliance for Ghana’s message of integrity, hope and transformational leadership as the party begins its campaign towards the 2028 elections.
